What is Family First Council?
Medina County Family First Council was
formally initiated in 1995 to:
• Heighten collaboration between agencies that address health and human services, including heads of major departments, elected officials, parents, business people, and other key stakeholders.
• Family First Council is dedicated to strengthening the Medina County community by coordinating and supporting health, human, and social services.
• Analyze the difficulties families are experiencing, investigate barriers that impact service delivery, and collaborate on how we can improve it.
• Strengthen family community resources.

Family First Council Members
Family First Council Committees:
1. Planning Committee:
• Makes sure that programs sponsored by the Family First Council meet the Council's guidelines, support the mission, and are needs-assessment driven.
• Reviews, prioritizes, and makes recommendations regarding grants and appropriate funding.
• Provides guidelines and strategic planning for the Family First Council.
• Works to both seek and receive funding.
• Acts as an overview committee that works to make sure that services are available to meet the needs of Medina County families.

2. Family Advisory Committee:
• Consists of parents and family representatives who advise the Family First Council how to better serve the people of Medina County.
• Develops special educational and child abuse and neglect projects.

3. Administrative Committee:
• Provides financial and personnel recommendations to Council and the Medina County Board of Commissioners.
4. Membership Committee:
• Works to fill membership openings on the Family First Council.
5. Public Relations Committee:
• Works to enhance the awareness of the Family First Council and its programs.
6. Bylaws Committee:
• Works to assure that the by-laws governing the organization and functioning of Family First Council are in accordance with Ohio Law.
7. Youth Advisory Consortium:
• Provides up-to-date information on programs, projects, services and resources for young children, families and service providers within our community.
